Sing!

Here is a very talented girl, singing one of my favorite songs, "Secrets" by One Republic. But talented or not, your voice is an instrument. And you shouldn't be afraid to let it play. :)

                         Holiday Music
We all at one time, have heard holiday music blare on our favorite radio stations, but do we know the time it first played? If you keep on reading, you can know how and when Holiday music first came out.
Cite: http://parentguide.com/short-history-of-holiday-music-from-hymns-to-rock-n%E2%80%99-roll/

Gene Autry;  with some of our Holiday favorites
In the 1600's, English settlers brought many of their holiday songs to the american colonies, such as We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Here We Come a Caroling. (If you don't know any of these songs, click this link to YouTube to search them up.) But even though Holiday Music started early, it ushered a new wave of holiday music in the 1800's, many of which are still popular today. (And did you know, that "Jingle Bells" was written during this time but it was originally intended to be a Thanksgiving song!?) But, a new boom in holiday happened again from the 1930's to the 50's, with Gene Autry popularizing our Holiday Hits today. Throughout the 20th century, pop-culture influenced new holiday music. But social issues influenced holiday music in the 1960's and onward (People wanted to protest against wars, and remember people who had done brave acts during the war.)  Such as the Sarajevo cellist during the Bosnian War, who stood on a pile of rubble and played while his city was being bomb
ed, there was a song called Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24.
 Explain, please?
Now that you know the history, let's hear some Holiday songs that maybe, you've never heard of before.
Cite: http://suite101.com/article/best-holiday-songs-youve-never-heard-a173619. Here is a list:

  • Suzy Snowflake, written by Sid tepper and Roy Bennett and recorded by Rosemary Clooney, this song is about a girl that brings joy to every little boy and girl.
  • How Lovely is Christmas, words and music by Arnold Suundgaard and Alec Wilder, this song reminds us of all the true meanings of Christmas.
  • The Christmas Waltz, lyrics and music by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne, this has a many chorus-like parts(Chorus was explained in one of my earlier blog posts....) then, transitions into Frank Sinatra or whoever sings the song, as it was recorded by many artists, wishing us a Merry Christmas.
To all the people who don't celebrate Christmas, I apoligize that I could not put on any Hannukah, Kwannza, Eid, or any other different holiday songs. If you would like a song to be mentioned, comment below and I will incorporate it into my next blog post, and/or a mini message. Until next time, try give the Holiday Music a little more attention.

         *Almost a* Musical Holiday

Its nearing the holidays! Are the cookies ready? Is the evergreen tree up? But most of all, what am I going to get for his/her present(s)? With only several days until Christmas and various other hoildays, these questions may still remain in some of your "Musical Minds".....Well, worry no more, because one of the best gifts that we've all ever gotten was....music! Here's some ideas:

  • A Music CD, possibly with songs of meaning to the person obtaining the gift (Ex.: Popular Holiday Songs, songs both you and the person share an interest in, instrumental, etc.)
  • An Apple iPod (For more information on Apple products and technology, visit http://technoshock19.blogspot.com/.) If they don't already have one....
  • Just some nice time together with your friends and family, because that is the true spirit of Christmas.
  • An iTunes gift card, great for downloading apps, music, books, music, etc. (For someone who has an Apple device!)
But like I said before, the presents are not the true spirit of Christmas. Family and friend bonding is, one of the best gifts one can receive. After all, shouldn't we be grateful for what we have?
Holiday Music Countdown to the, Holidays
I will be doing a music countdown to Christmas, or the Holidays if you don't celebrate Christmas, but in every Blog Post I do, I will post a favorite holiday song for my whole audience to see and hear. This blog post's song is: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!!! So, comment what holiday song you want put up in one of my Blog Posts and/or mini messages! Or, you can comment what you are getting for your friend/relative for the Holidays!  Until next time, have a belated Happy Christmas and Merry Holidays!

               Musical Travelling?

When I say that, you may think of travelling music or something else boring and ridiculous. But, when I say "Musical Travelling" I mean travelling to some of the best places to hear music! I know, it might be a waste of money, energy, and gasoline, but maybe sometime on the weekends or holidays, you can travel to a local place to hear music other than your computer, or tablet. Here are some great places (I tried to keep it in a range of this state, but I'll list some in other states in the U.S. anyways because it doesn't hurt to have extra information...) *I give this information credit to http://www.tripadvisor.com/GoListDetail-i217-Best_places_to_listen_to_live_music.html and * :
  •    Nashville, TN - The Grand Ole Opry, a nice place for country bands and musicians, turned Nashville into a capital of country music.
  •    London, UK -  A place to travel for English-Rock Lovers.
  • Or in Morris County, New Jersey, Barque Orchestra
I also give credit to http://www.funnewjersey.com/ for the Morris County Information. Do you know what is very sad? I searched for "Local Musical Attractions" but a bunch of Waterpark and Rollercoaster websites popped up instead. It seems as if people are taking music for granted and instead giving attention to something "more interesting". Hmmph.
                      The History of Music!
           * Cite: http://webpages.shepherd.edu/BREICH01/
Music. Most of us "Musical Minds" think about the more modern music when the word "MUSIC" is mentioned. But, hear the history of what we think is "music" and maybe next time, we all will think of something different. Here are some researched facts:
  1.  There is a theory that music came from the Ancient Greek muses, who were the 9 gods and goddesses of art, and science.
  2. There is another theory that music actually began around 500 B.C., when Pythagoras (Pie-tha-gore-rus) an Ancient Greek philosopher experimented with acoustics, and found out how math related to tones formed from plucking strings.
  3. Another one was that the main form of music came from Pope Gregory I, "The gregorian chant was used for religious services and at first, did not include instrumentation. And then music began to be mentioned outside of the Church, and then people inserted instrumentation.
These are only a couple theories but I hope this long blog post has been informative to you! (Please comment below if it was or wasn't and/or what you think Music's history was!) Until next time, try to be more of a musical historian!

                   Chorus Music
Like instrumental music, as described in one of my earlier blog posts, chorus music doesn't have any lyrics, or singers, too. But, unlike instrumental music, there are people using their voices. Just, without lyrics. This can be called as vocalizing. Vocalizing is usually when a large group of people come and work together to form their combined voices into a song. In this video, a large group of men in a chorus vocalize. Try it:

If you liked this, and you want more chorus music, then go to www.youtube.com and type in chorus music. Then you can see a wider selection of Chorus music videos. Which is better? Chorus Music, or Pop Music? (Comment Below what you like the best!!!)
 Bloggers' Music
In a cafe like Starbucks, or something, they play nice, slow music so people can sit down and work easily. In my first blog post,  I mentioned what kind of enviroment certain people need in order to work. (Little fact: This is what my English teacher calls "Bloggers' Music" and Bloggers' Music is usually played by an acoustic guitar.) This type of music has lyrics and everything, but its quieter than usual music and much more calmer too. So, if you go somewhere with this kind of music playing in the store/cafe, that is a nice place to work. Be sure to comment some nice music like this if you want down below too! Until next time, try not to mind the music, (I haven't played that card in a while....)

          The Thanksgiving Holiday
As you know, Thanksgiving is coming up and we're all thinking about the turkey and food. But, little do we notice, we don't actually give thanks on this day and remember the day it was actually created. So, in this special Thanksgiving blog post, I'm going to put up some facts about the history of Thanksgiving that I bet you didn't know, so take a look at this video:

So, while watching this video, I bet that you didn't know that Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving in the 1860's. If you did, then, this is something that you probably didn't notice. The Native Americans and pilgrims introduced it, and the festival went on for three days! Thanksgiving is a day to be grateful for what we have, to give thanks, to put it another way. Even when we don't get everything we want. So, let's embrace what the founders and leaders of our country created. And give thanks.
A Musical Thanksgiving?
How does music, relate to Thanksgiving, you're probably thinking. Maybe, Thanksgiving music? But actually I wanted to put up music that shows thanks and appreciation to the things we have. And also,  autumn music, since Thanksgiving is in fall. So, even though Thanksgiving passed, you can still listen to these songs and think about Thanksgiving. So, here you go! ( Here's where you can find some of the top thankful songs to be found: http://www.spinner.com/2010/11/11/thankful-songs/ , and here's the link for top fall songs to be found: http://www.ign.com/articles/2008/11/03/top-7-autumn-songs) So, listen to these songs and remember to be grateful. Until next time, try to be thankful for the music. (Also, leave a comment below saying what you did for your Thanksgiving, if you'd like!)

                   Gaming Music

Most video games you know have a melody or music to go with it. Sometimes, you're too wrapped up in the game to notice the playing music. But actually, if you were to imagine the game without melody, then the game would seem boring and meaningless. For those of you who don't play, then notice this on T.V. shows. Or try a new game and see if there's a music inside the game. As you can see, music can be used for anything, as said in one of my earlier blog posts. (You can find information about gaming at; http://thegamerspotblog.blogspot.com/.)
                       Instrumental Music
Instrumental music can also be referred to as classical music. Classical music isn't like the pop, new music that plays on the radio often. It doesn't have any lyrics, or singers (usually). Also, instrumental music is played with instruments, not with any machinery, or technolody, i don't think. If you have ever played any instrument at all, please comment that in the comments section, so we can see all the different types of instruments there are. If you've never played an instrument, then comment what type should be played in order to have classical music. Until next time, try not to let the music make you too instru-mental! (Mental, get it?)

                   Patriotic Songs

Possibly in your old school you did patriotic songs. (You might wonder why all of a sudden I'm focusing on patriotism. Its because of the election that just passed, and I wanted to remind you not to take independence for granted.) Anyways, you did that act of patriotism because you are celebrating America's independence. There is a video in the top-right corner that has a song called "America the Beautiful", which is my favorite patriotic song. Also, if you wanted to say a patriotic song that wasn't played in the video, please enter that in the comments section below. The point of this paragraph was to remind you don't have to only  celebrate America's independence on July 4th, but that you can celebrate it anyday, since we all take that for granted. Remember to always be thankful of our independence and peace.
                   Hurricane Sandy
The reason I didn't update my blog and make a post is because of hurricane Sandy. (Sorry about that!) But, usually I only base my blog posts off of music. But this time, I'd also like to take a paragraph to remember the ones that passed because of the hurricane and the lost homes and destruction that also happened. If  you'd like to make a shout-out to someone that passed away or who got significantly affected by the storm in the comments section, please do so. But, I think this storm taught us a lesson by giving us black-outs and destruction. I would put up some sad music, but I think that there has been enough sorrow already. (Also, if you want any extra information on Hurricane Sandy, here's the link for the website; http://abcnews.go.com/topics/news/hurricane-sandy.htm.) Until next time, be careful to be respectful to everything at all times.

                    Dancing to Music

Sometimes, dancing without music may seem weird. You may think "You can't dance if there's no music." But actually, you yourself are creating, shaping the music to the movement of your body movement. Some people just need music to move themselves, but others can just shake their hips while doing almost anything! (This information was based off of an actual post in a "dance" blog. Find it at http://danceperformingarts.blogspot.com/.) As once sung in a song, "I don't need the music to go help me move my feet. I don't need my feet to help me move the beat." (This is the song in the top-right corner.) For the people that need music to dance to, please post an upbeat, cool song to dance to in the comments section.
                         Hip-hop and R&B
You may think people only dance hip-hop to rap music. That's not true, actually, because hip-hop dancers only need cool music with a beat, to do their twists and flips, and moves. (Speaking of cool music, I will post daily cool appropriate songs of the week every Friday. If you have any cool songs you want to share, please also type that in the comments section.) As I was saying, if people doing hip-hop need music, they don't really need R&B. They could just do songs with beats or good flow. But if you do or would like to do rap, caution that most rap is mostly inappropriate. Until next time, since I need to rap it up now! (That was really cheesy, I know.)

                    Some Songs....

First off, I want to apologize to Teresa L., because I had incorrectly fulfilled your question. To fufill it now, I will now answer it, correctly. Since Teresa had wanted to know some songs that change your mood from sad to happy, I will give a video that shows some below.

In my opinion, I think that these songs are good for when you're having a bad day, and you really want to be more happy. If any of my readers have any "happy" songs, please list them in the comments section. Since there are happy songs, I want to warn you that sad and inappropriate songs exist, too. And that you should dodge the ones that you think aren't good.
Theme Songs
Did you ever notice that almost every show you watch has a-minute long theme song? That's because the producers of the show want you to remember the show. Let me explain. If their show has a catchy song, it'll get stuck in your head. And every time you'll sing it, you'll be like, "Oh, I have a strange feeling to go watch that show and hear that catchy song again." So their ratings will go higher. Here is a theme song from one of the best shows of ALL time. If you like it, please tell me in the comment section below. So, now, do you realize that! And most of the time, theme songs are happy songs. (If you want to see some of your favorite shows now, here is a link to www.disneychannel.com so you can watch.) Until next time, try to stick to the theme of the music!

                    Song Moods
One of my viewers wanted to know how a song can change your mood from sad to happy. Well, it can be anything, really! It can be the beat, genre, or just that its a cool song! I actually mentioned that in one of my earlier posts. (If you feel like searching for a good song now, click this link www.youtube.com to do that.) But, I heard about this song that surprises you! (Try searching "Surprise" on YouTube.) So I hope that I had answered your question, but if you do have anymore (related to music, of course...) please leave that in the comment section below.
                      Persuasive Music?
I always wondered if music can persuade you to do things. Like there's a song on Disney Channel (Fashion is My Kryptonite) And I wonder if that drove people to rummage through their closet after that song. (But if you really want a fashion site, go to http://thenextcoco.blogspot.com/ to check out some fashion ideas.) I think that that idea could be dangerous, because it is sort of is like the practice of hypnotism. If you don't have any questions, try to list a song that hypnotizes you. (If its really good.) And I'll list that song in my next post. Until next time, try not to get to hypnotized by the music!

              Music: Not only for relaxing?
In my last post, I discussed about how music can affect your mood. Well, now I have something to change about that. Music can be used for almost anything, or any event. Like funerals, graduation ceremonies, birthday celebrations, or just plain random parties! And I can prove it, because everybody I've ever known knows the birthday song. You know, the one that goes, * Happy Birthday to you...* And that Graduation March Theme song, you may not know it by name, but I'm sure you've heard of it. If you don't remember, check out this video.

                                                    Musical Laughs

When I say musical laughs, I mean that when you hear a song, you may chuckle a little, not when you laugh, and soprano comes out! (But if you really want a laugh, check out thesnickerhouse.blogspot.com.) But let's refocus on the topic I want to talk about. Whenever you think of a song, you might think of a professional, awesome, rock-star song. But, songs can be homemade, and still be totally TERRIFIC!! I don't know any, but what I mean is you can make up little rhymes in your head and there, you got a song. (NOT a poem...)  So I dare you, to try your hardest to make a song, and then send it to me somehow. If you comment... If you're attention-shy, just link me an awesome song that you know. And I'll feature the best one in my next post. Until next time, try to have some musical laughs.

                    Musical Personalities?

Everybody has a favorite kind if music, and it often reflects their personalities. So if you like rock & roll, you might have a rebellious personality. Or if you like classical music, you might be really boring. (I'm just kidding.) But the point is, music can affect you (or show how you are...) in basically any way! And speaking of  "any way", it could change your mood! What I'm trying to say is that if a song comes on the radio, and you like it, you would obviously feel happier. But if you don't like the song, then you'll probably *sigh* and be a little annoyed. There are other ways music can affect you though.
                Working with Music....
Another way music can affect you is through your work. Most people turn on the radio before they do their homework because it helps them get the work done faster. Whereas other people need to work in a quiet, silent enviroment. Or else they will get distracted. This shows what the enviroment that you live in is like. A loud, noisy, and disruptive enviroment, or a still, quiet enviroment. If you comment on this post, tell me what kind of enviroment you need (it doesn't have to be the ones I listed...) or what type of music that you like. Until next time, try not to mind the music!
